Serge Goldner has founded a new company that will adapt therapies from the human health care market to the world of animal health. Known as Gour Medical, the company is currently screening potential technologies in order to execute several in-licensing agreements. Goldner is the former co-founder and CFO of Immune Pharma and a managing partner at Cukierman & Co. Board members include investment experts Patrick Scherrer , a former CEO of Widmann Associates . The animal health industry is a growing industry that represented a $22 billion market in 2011 of medicines and vaccines. An advantage of animal health products is that development is generally faster and less expensive as R&D is more predictable. Aratana Therapeutics which raised nearly $40 million in a recent IPO is an example of a success story in this field. Aratana is based on three compounds being developed for use in six animal health products. A team of experts headed by Dr. Thierry Bardon, former VP of R&D at Ceva Sante Animale is currently picking out a list of in-licensing targets for Gour Medical.
